About Ore–Ida
Ore-Ida® Potato Products, Inc. was formed in 1952 with its first and largest Ore-Ida® potato-processing facility located in Oregon, right near the border of Idaho. It was here that founder F. Nephi Grigg procured many of his potatoes. Thus, the brand name Ore-Ida® was born, combining the first few letters of Oregon and Idaho. This name inspired one of the world's most memorable advertising slogans: “When it says Ore-Ida®, it’s All Righta,” which was used for more than a decade.
One of the most famous Ore-Ida® products are Tater Tots® shredded potatoes, first created in 1953 when the Grigg brothers were looking for new ways to use potatoes in their french fry business. They created bite-sized treats from slivers of potatoes and branded them "Tater Tots®" shredded potatoes. The first star in the Ore-Ida® family was born!
Now, over 50 years later, the Ore-Ida® Brand is part of the Heinz®; family of brands and has given birth to over forty new siblings to its first-born Tater Tots®; variety including Golden Fries®, Golden Crinkles®, Extra Crispy, Easy Fries™, Zesties!®, Crispers!®, Onion Ringers®, Steak Fries, Hash Browns, Twice Baked, and Mashed Potatoes -- now packaged with color-coded banners to make it easier to find your favorites.
Today, the Ore-Ida® Brand is the most trusted and popular name in the potato and onion business and the nation's leading brand of frozen potatoes.
