Earlier this year marked Jon Wood’s long-awaited NASCAR NEXTEL Cup debut at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He’s set to compete in 11 Nextel Cup events throughout the year, driving for sponsors that include Ore-Ida® and its Extra Crispy line of French fries.

The Stuart, Virginia native joined the NASCAR Busch Series ranks on a full-time basis in 2005, racing the No. 47 Ford Taurus for Tad Geschickter’s ST Motorsports team. He finished 15th in the year’s final point standings. Wood began his racing career in Go-Karts after discovering he loved the thrill of speed and competition. It’s no wonder that racing is in his blood: Wood is the grandson of legendary Wood Brothers Racing founder Glen Wood, and son of Wood Brothers Racing co-owner Eddie Wood.
